Surrounded by idyllic waterfront views, Sydney’s Inner West suburb of Drummoyne is perhaps better known for The Bay Run than its local art scene.
A stroll down Lyons Road in early October however revealed the annual Drummoyne Art Society's Members' Art Awards Exhibition at Civic Hall.

Judged by contemporary artist Christine Webb, members entered artworks under seven categories including traditional, watercolour, abstract & contemporary and drawing & prints.
Lewis Mendis’ oil work ‘Grand Canyon - Blue Mts’ won the Joshua Smith Memorial Award for Best in Show. The award, sponsored this year by City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna, was selected from all member submissions.
In keeping with the local spirit, entries under the ‘City of Canada Bay’ category attracted artworks inspired by familiar built and natural sights. Among them, Diana Borinski’s trigraph of Abbotsford local corners took home the category award and two very high commendations respectively.
With an abundance of high quality works on show (and for sale), be sure to catch the exhibition before it closes on 12 October 2025.
