Paper serves as an artistic surface, medium and inspiration at the biennial Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award.
Founded in 2001, the Award invites artists nationwide to submit works with, on or about paper.

Selected from over 1000 entries, the 61 finalists, exhibited at the Hazelhurst Arts Centre, capture the Award’s call.
Paper is drawn, cut and printed on, collaged, assembled into a sculpture, embroidered and even woven into a blanket and rug.
The winning works, as judged by Wollongong Art Gallery Director, Dr Daniel Mudie Cunningham, focus on paper's more traditional applications.
Rochelle Haley’s watercolour and ink work Rising Switch, 2025, earned the $15,000 major award.
