Artsy finds on the NSW South Coast

On the NSW South Coast, hidden among the usual seaside fare of surf shops and fish and chips providores are creative outposts showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship of local makers.

With shops in Berry, Huskisson, Gerringong and Kiama, The Collective Beat houses thoughtfully curated wares that are as diverse as the surrounding landscape.

A recent visit to their Huskisson store revealed a delightful range of photography, art prints, jewelry, homewares and other goods.

Flicking through the ocean, coastal and aerial shots of South Coast based photographer Belinda Doyle offered familiar and fresh perspectives of the region.

On another shelf, local artist Lena Bowler’s framed watercolour works rendered starfish and sharks alike in gentle detail, their common and scientific name printed for reference underneath.

“The Collective Beat is more than just a marketplace—it’s a celebration of creativity, connection, and community spirit on the NSW South Coast”, as best put on their website.

With over 80 small Australian creative businesses represented, locals and tourists alike are sure to find something unique to bring home - alongside their takeaway fish and chips.
